Every Git working directory is a full-fledged repository with complete history and full revision tracking capabilities, not dependent on network access or a central server.

# wget http://www.kernel.org/pub/software/scm/git/git-1.6.1.tar.gz
# tar zxvf git-1.6.1.tar.gz
# cd git-1.6.1
# ./configure
# make && make install
